Ideal Nymph
The Ideal Nymph range is a series of tactical nymphing rods that has been thoughtfully designed in every possible aspect to be the most effective and pleasant feeling nymphing tools. The rods have a non-glare matte finish, downlocking matte titanium color hardware with high density premium quality cork grips, Curly Koa wood spacers and compact fighting butts. Rod accents include dark amber color primary wraps and titanium metallic accent wraps. Guide selection and placement on nymphing rods is critical to performance, and Ideal Nymph rods have the right components in the right places. There are three snake guides below the rod tip, which helps counter leader-wrapping problems with long leaders. Two lightweight single foot stripping guides create a smoother surface at the most critical contact areas while the rod is heavily flexed fighting a fish. Dark colored single foot guides cover the area between the snake guides and the stripper guides. Guide placement is optimized with a stripping guide on the butt section to minimize potential line sag. Ideal Nymph blanks are designed to maximize recovery speed and feel, while still flexing enough to load with mono rigs and lightweight nymphs. All Ideal Nymph rods have a firm backbone that allows for a quick hookset and great fish retention, while having the smooth power transition that allows anglers to apply firm pressure to fish without fear of breaking light tippets.

Ideal Nymph 10’ 2wt Rod performed as expected. On par with so called higher end, more expensive rods. Designer once again leaves his mark. Keep up the good work!
I purchased this rod after watching several ‘you tube’ videos referencing steelhead fishing. I have to say, the rod lived up to and passed expectations! The feel of this rod while tight line / euro-nymphing is a game changer, at least for me. Prior to the purchase of this rod, during the winter months, I primarily used an indicator, or if the air temperature was pushing 40 degrees F I preferred Spey casting. Having fished this rod 3-4 times a week over the past month, I can honestly say that it has become far and away my favorite way to target Steelhead. Feeling every subtle bounce along the bottom, the take of the fly, and the awesome fight afterward will make you a believer! My only comment to the negative side would be trying to fish this rod with wind speeds over about 12 mph give or take. Due to the lightness of the rod, the nymph fly line, and corresponding monofilament and tippet, it becomes very difficult to feel the bottom as the line forms a ‘belly’ in the breeze. On a windy day I would go back to the standard 7 Wt switch rod with Wt Forward line and an indicator. Otherwise I’m all in on using this rod as often as possible!
Over the years, Ive thrown a ton of different euro rods while chasing steelhead on my river. I finally found the perfect rod in Ideal Nymph 4wt 10’10” rod. It’s no go-to rod for myself & my clients when I guide.
I think I caught my biggest trout today first time using the 3wt 10-10 rod on 6x tippet this rod is amazing! I have the 1wt 10’, and the 2wt 10 but this new one is gonna be hard to leave at home! Thanks for such a great product at an amazing price !
